The Blessing of Abuse (My Soul's Journey) Overview

For anyone still asking... “Why did that happen to me?”

In the summer of her 49th year, Laurie Stinson was given a golden opportunity to understand her childhood abuse on a soul level. Written through the eyes of a four year old, her brave and triumphant journey through the torments of abuse and a terrifying gift of knowing led her to understand the shame and humiliation one feels when abused had affected her relationships and choices in life because she was afraid to let people see who she really was for fear of rejection and pity. She encouraged her insecurities with anger and bitterness at parents who didn’t have the ability to love and abuse became her identity and crutch.

Her breakthrough into who she really is has set her on a quest to help others afflicted with abusive experiences. She now sees the true beauty and purpose of her life and has written The Blessing of Abuse as a blueprint for others to follow to write of their painful truths in hopes that they may begin to see their experiences from a different perspective and enable her readers to live their lives free from the shadow of their abusers.

... Transforming lives one soul at a time...

Laurie Stinson was born in Minnesota and raised two children in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. At the age of 49, she had a spiritual awakening that led her on a journey to understand her childhood abuse and gift of knowing. After writing The Blessing of Abuse, she moved to northern Colorado and currently teaches a writing class at a local community college, Healing from Writing, an 8-week workshop devoted to understanding childhood abuse through the writing of your own spiritual autobiography. She is currently writing her second book, My Soul’s Journey, Experiences. She supports and champions the fight for children's rights in Colorado and all over the world.

Laurie's story, from an abusive childhood to a life filled with Spirit, is engaging, moving and inspiring. She writes candidly and at times even humorously, as we travel with her through her childhood terror to the awakening of her gifts and life purpose, from fear and anger to understanding the greater meaning of her life experiences and finding forgiveness. -Sheila Bray, Ph.D

Laurie has traveled down the road of child abuse but did not let it ruin her. She has turned the experiences into something positive and good by showing the resilience of the human spirit. By bringing Spirituality into her life, and reaching out to God and the Angels, she has redesigned herself to be the strong, confident woman she is today. I am proud to call her my friend. -Judith Statezny Ulch
